A construction worker is fighting for his life in the Netcare Union Hospital after a ten meter plunge from scaffolding at a site in Wadesville this evening.
The cause of the incident and the series of events preceding it remain unclear.
Common cause information suggests that the man had lost his footing and fell from the scaffold, plunging to the floor below.
Netcare911 Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the man in a critical condition, having sustained multi-system traumatic injuries. He was intubated and placed on a manual ventilator at the scene and rushed by ambulance to the specialist hospital where he remains fighting for his life.
