Bloemfontein: Elderly couple dies in old age village apartment blaze

An elderly couple has burnt to death in their apartment at an old age village in Bloemfontein this morning.

The cause of the fire in unclear at this stage, but according to security guards at the old age village in the suburb of Vleurdal, it occurred at approximately 02:30. Various Emergency Medical Staff who later arrived at the scene found that the free standing apartment unit was completely engulfed in flames.

The elderly couple who lived in the unit, both believed to be aged in their 70′s, did not survive the inferno and were later declared dead at the scene. The incident will be investigated by the approorite authority.
