The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

Daphne Hennessey of the Knysna Disaster Fund with one of the colourful tracksuits made by Gwen Kudulis and her needleworking ladies.
KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna Disaster Fund urgently needs volunteers to lend a helping hand in distributing clothes, bedding and kithenware to individuals or families who have been identified by the police, Child Welfare or community leaders as being destitute.
Most of these people are without homes as a result of a fire or some natural disaster.
For more information, kindly contact the chairperson, Daphne Hennessey on 044 382 5358.
