Snow could possibly fall in high-lying areas on Friday and Saturday.

Rough seas were expected in coastal regions.

The Cape Times reported on Friday that one person is presumed drowned, hundreds of shacks were flooded and at least 18 road accidents were recorded after Thursday's heavy rainfall.

The South African Weather Service on Friday warned of rough seas, heavy rain, gale-force winds and snowfalls in both the Western and Eastern Cape, with the rest of the country experiencing very cold conditions.
