The SAWDOS have a suspicion that many South Africans were caught napping as to yesterday's severe weather. Nobody expected tornadoes to touch down in the middle of winter in South Africa. Further more no heavy rain and flash flooding was foretasted for the PE area except the SAWDOS who advised the public of the possibility of flash flooding in the Southern and Eastern Cape. To crown this all the SAWS Storm Warning Map was in down, but thanks to Netcare911, ER24, the Press, NSRI , SAWDOS Observers, SAPS, Tweeters, SAWDOS Facebook Group and all others the SAWDOS was able to keep the public informed. The SAWDOS express its condolences to the families and friends who lost loved one's as a result of the severe weather and wish those who were injured a speedy recovery. I thank you all.

The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.
