Cape Town - A warning has been issued for heavy rain and snow in parts of the Eastern Cape at the weekend, provincial MEC Mlibo Qoboshiyane said on Friday.
He warned locals to be careful when travelling and to listen for updates from disaster management officials.
Affected municipalities included the Nelson Mandela Bay metro, Buffalo City metro, Peddie local municipality, Amathole district municipality and Cacadu district.
"Areas like Queenstown, Aliwal North and surrounding areas might not be out of the woods with regards to this weather, as they are snow-prone areas during this time of the year," Qoboshiyane said.
Some residents had already been moved to higher ground.
A meeting would be held later on Friday to discuss road closures, operations and procedures in municipalities likely to be affected.
