BEAUFORT-WES NUUSFLITS - Die hulp van ‘n helikopter is vandag ingeroep om noodsaaklike voorraad na mense wat deur sneeu in die Nuweveldberge by Beaufort-Wes vasgekeer is, te neem.
“Koos Crous van Mosselbaai Helikopters het kom help om kos, komberse, brandhout en lusern op die vyf plase wat deur die sneeu afgesny is, te gaan aflaai,” het Marcelle Minnaar van Karoo Game omstreeks 14:00 gesê.
“Daar is 25 arbeidergesinne wat spesifiek in nood is vir hout, kos en komberse. Dit beteken daar is ten minste 100 mense vasgekeer, en dit is maar net die waarvan ons weet – die sneeu het oor ‘n baie wye gebied geval.
“Dit het Vrydagaand begin sneeu en dit is nou 72 uur later – die mense moet al desperaat wees." Volgens haar lê die sneeu party plekke tot 1,5m diep.
“Vier plase is afgesny van enige telefoniese kommunikasie. Almal is veeplase met perde, beeste, skape en bokke wat ook voeding nodig het.”
