SAWDOS receive call for rescue assistance on the R61 between Graaff Reinet and Cradock.

The following Blackberry message was received from Thando Pozisa:

My brother is stuck somewhere in Graafreinet since last night, can you please guys send someone for help because he is driving with a child and now they ran out of food nor water. Please please

The SAWDOS asked for the following further information:

I need more info:

1.  I need exact location.
2.  Which road?
3.  What car, truck is he driving?
4.  Does he have a cellphone with him and if so what is the number?
5.  Name of brother and child?

The SAWDOS is awaiting further information from Thando before we can pass the info on to the relevant authorities.

Thando Pozisa replied:

Here is the info:-
R61 about 40km out of Cradock & 70km 2 Graaf Reinet. A number of vehicle are there & driving a Polo Classic with Reg No: Cey ######. Cellphone no: ####  Names:  ######## & ######## the son!!

Thando Pozisa further replied:

Things are getting from bad to worse there, in one of the cars there is a child that just died and a critically ill person as we speak, I'm scared bit will give you the whole info now now. Please help I'm worried

SAWDOS forwarded Thando's request for assistance to the necessary roll players.  It was confirmed that the necessary rescue mission was launched.  Thando was informed accordingly.

SAWDOS replied:

Thank you very much for the information.  The SAWDOS set the wheels rolling.
A rescue mission is underway.  Authorities know about the trapped people and
are on their way to rescue those that are trapped.

Please keep me informed of the outcome and tell ##### that help is on the way.

We are still waiting the final outcome and hope to confirm that those trapped were rescued. Truly a team effort!!

Update:  John Fobian SAPS via ALGOA FM - 145 people rescued in 29 vehicles on the R61 Cradock side. Still busy on the Graaff Reinet side.

UPDATE: 

Everything seems to be in order now.
All the cars has to turn back as the road is closed around GraafReinet and now they are going to take the route on the side of PE.

They are still okay and I'm so relieved but thanks to your team.
