The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

VIDEO: KLERKSDORP AIR SHOW CRASH (30 June 2012)
SAWDOS: Video showing the impact. This is really sad. I attended an airshow at Swartkops in the 1990's where an aerobatic pilot crashed into the ground. His fiancee at the time ran up to the accident scene which was engulfed in flame and smoke. He died the next day in hospital of severe burns and other complications. Looking at the above video I relived that day at Swartkops. It is really sad to witness such an incident especially if it is someone you know. However memories live on and the only conciliation is the fact that he died while doing something he loved most, flying an aircraft that he loved and adored! RIP - Gianfranco
