The SA Weather Service says snow is expected to stop falling across the country this afternoon.
It says the cold front will begin moving eastwards later today, weakening the overall impact of extreme weather conditions over South Africa.
In KwaZulu-Natal, heavy snowfall over the past two days lead to the closure of several main roads in areas such as Bulwer, Kokstad, Mooi River and Howick.
Heavy rains also flooded homes across parts of the province and even caused a road in Queensburgh to collapse.
Forecaster Karl Loots says the wet weather will continue till this evening.
"For the rest of today we are still expecting heavy rainfall through most of KZN, as well as the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape. There is 80% chance of widespread showers and thunder showers, it is raining heavily in most places," he said.
"Chances of rainfall tomorrow; almost nothing for the whole country. Warming is expected countrywide as well."
