JOHANNESBURG - Eskom on Wednesday said it was working to restore electricity to some 70,000 households which have been left without power in KwaZulu-Natal because of bad weather.
The power went out in parts of Durban, the Natal Midlands and southern KwaZulu-Natal earlier this morning.
Eskom said it has been difficult for technicians to fix the problem because of heavy snowfall.
The utility's Hillary Joffe said, “Five of the transmission lines that carry power to the province have been knocked out by the severe weather and the snow. We are working to restore those lines as soon as we can.”
Meanwhile, as temperatures plunge in Gauteng, several suburbs on the West Rand have also been without electricity.
City Power technicians have been working on the problem.
