Johannesburg - The bodies of four boys were found in a Pretoria dam on Sunday morning, paramedics said.
"Tshwane Emergency Services responded this morning at 08:00 to a drowning incident close to Baviaanspoort Correctional Services," said spokesperson Johan Pieterse.
The children, aged between six and 11, had been missing since the previous night, but emergency services were only alerted on Sunday.
After an hour's search, their bodies were located in the dam.
The boys had climbed over the fence to go swimming in the 1.2m-deep dam, said Pieterse.
