Cape Town - A search is underway for a paramedic and an ambulance that veered off a bridge and into a river in Montagu on Tuesday morning, Western Cape emergency services said.
Spokesperson Keri Davids said the emergency worker had been driving from Montagu to Ashton at 05:30 when she left the Cogmanskloof bridge and landed in fast-flowing and murky water.
She alerted the communications centre in Worcester. Fourteen emergency and rescue workers were sent to the scene, but had not found the paramedic or the vehicle.
The area was also being searched from the air.
