Two planes collided south of Chandler Friday afternoon. Ian Gregor with the Federal Aviation Administration said the pilot of a Piper PA28 reported colliding in mid-air with another aircraft he identified as a Piper Cherokee around 2 p.m. about 12 miles southwest of Chandler Municipal Airport. The Piper PA28 landed safely at Gila River Memorial Airport, according to Gregor. The other aircraft reportedly landed safely at a vehicle test track. Gregor said both planes reportedly sustained significant damage. No injuries were reported. The FAA and NTSB are investigating the accident.
