A wildfire that started on the mountains above Franscchoek yesterday, had spread to Wemmershoek by this morning and became a threat to the resort and residences at De Hollandsche Molen. First commotion started around 12pm and after a whole day of on-the-ground firefighting, as well as water-bombing by helicopters, this part of the fire was finally brought under control at around 7:30pm. Closer to Paarl, the fire continues to burn on the mountain slopes.
