Bloemfontein - Two people were injured in a small explosion in a block of flats in Bloemfontein on Friday afternoon, Free State police said.
Spokesperson Sergeant Thabo Litabe said two people were treated at the Pelonomi Hospital.
One was released with minor injuries. The second person's condition was unknown.
Litabe said it seemed three people were moving boxes in the flat which had been left behind by someone's grandfather.
While moving a box the fuse of a 16mm mortar bomb fell out and detonated.
Police were investigating.
