Johannesburg – ‘n Veertienjarige seun het Donderdagmiddag gesterf nadat hy deur bye gesteek is tydens ‘n skooluitstappie in Queenstown, het die Oos-Kaapse departement van gesondheid gesê.
Sizwe Kupelo, woordvoerder, het gesê ‘n graad 8-klas was op ‘n staptog in ‘n park toe een van die seuns ‘n byekorf versteur het.
Die swerm het die groep van 180 leerlinge en onderwysers aangeval. Twaalf van hulle is gesteek.
“Die seun wat gesterf het, was hoogs allergies vir bye... hy is op die toneel dood.”
Die groep is na die Queenstown-private hospitaal geneem en het behandeling vir bysteke en dehidrasie ontvang. Vyf-en-negentig van dié wat opgeneem is, is teen 17:00 behandel en ontslaan.
