Firefighters on Monday said the vegetation fire that is ranging in the mountains above Stanford near Hermanus, is moving towards farms in the area.
The blaze started on Saturday.
Efforts have been hampered by strong winds.
The Overstrand Municipality's Riaan Jakobs said they have plans in place to prevent damage to infrastructure.
“The fire is still on the mountains, but it is slowly moving toward the farms. Firefighters are currently trying to protect farm houses from the blaze,” he said.
At the same time, a fire near the Bainskloof Pass has not been brought under control.
The Cape Winelands Municipality's Roysten Harris, “The fire is stable but not under control. The wind is very strong and it is making it difficult for firefighters.”
