Fred Calitz van Polokwane skryf: 2012 in Polokwane het beslis met ‘n met ‘n ‘bang’ begin – ‘n kort maar wilde haelstorm het die stad so ongeveer 17H30 vanmiddag vanuit die suidooste getref. Dit was eienaardig om die donker grys wolke (met so ‘n effense groen tint) oor die huis te sien rol terwyl daar ‘n vreemde dreuning oor die buurt opgebou het, waarna R1-grootte haelkorrels skielik begin val het. Die ergste deel van die storm het sowat 8 minute geduur, gevolg deur harde reën. Die storm was na net ‘n halfuur weer oor. Die totale reënval was maar 2.5mm, maar die bome en struike in my tuin het redelik deurgeloop.
