A massive evacuation operation has been underway in Limpopo, during the early hours of Thursday morning.
At least 150 people were rescued from the rooftops of submerged homes.
Areas in and around the Kruger National Park have been flooded, following two days of heavy rain.
The airforce, police and other emergency services have been involved in the rescue.
Meanwhile, dozens of day visitors have been trapped in their cars inside the park, and were forced to camp out in their cars.
Naaeema Suleiman, who lives in Auckland Park, Johannesburg, said it was still unclear when they will be able to go home.
“The one bridge we could walk across now has a huge hole in the middle. I’m not sure how high the flooding is on the other bridge, but it looks very far.”
