Port Elizabeth - A man is in a critical condition after he tried to save three teenagers off Maitland Beach 30km from Port Elizabeth on Saturday afternoon.
"Reports indicate that the man swam out to save three teenagers when he got into difficulty himself and had to be rescued at around 17:00," Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said.
Paramedics raced to the scene and after stabilising the man they transported him to the Netcare Greenacres hospital for treatment.
