Public Hearings on the South African Weather Service Amendment Bill under way in Parliament today

The Public Hearing on the South African Weather Service Amendment Bill has started this morning in Parliament.

The Portfolio Committee on Water and Environmental Affairs (the Committee) invited written submissions on the South African Weather Service Amendment bill from all interested parties and stakeholders in South Africa.

The following Organizations and Private Individuals will make oral presentations in the next two days.

1. HAMNET Emergency Communications - Mr F Botha
2. Chemical and Allied Industries Association (CA/A) - Ms L Lotter
3. Centre for Environmental Rights - Ms R Hugo
4. FW de Klerk Foundation - Mr D Steward
5. The Society of Master Mariners of South Africa - Captain Whitehead
6. Dr Scholes
7. Weather.co.za - Mr Joberg
8. Ocean Satellite Imaging Systems - Mr J Arabonis
9. Afriforum - Mr Kleynhans
10. Mr R Louw
11. Dr F Engelbrecht
12. Mr Steve Pike
13. Ms Judith Taylor
14. Dr Lisa Ramsay

Each oral submission will be given 30-45 minutes in total for processing by the Committee. Therefor, each participant will be allocated only 10 minutes to orally present the main points of his/her paper. The rest of the time slot will be used for questions and answers.
