White shark warning for St Francis Bay

Johannesburg - People must exercise caution along the St Francis Bay coastline in the Eastern Cape where a great white shark has been seen, the National Sea Rescue Institute said on Friday.

The shark, believed to 5m in length, had been patrolling the shoreline for the past few days, spokesperson Craig Lambinon said in a statement.

Shark fishing permits that had apparently been issued by authorities in that area may have led to the increased presence of sharks along the coast, he said.
