At least 31 accidents have been reported on Johannesburg roads due to the wet weather.
The JMPD said some roads are slippery and the rain has caused reduced visibility.
Several roads including Klipvalley and New Canada Roads have been flooded.
The JPMD’s Edna Mamonyane said, “The following distance is very important, keep your headlights on and don’t even try and speed in this weather.”
At the same time, bad weather caused a power failure which affected various Metrorail networks in the South of Johannesburg.
