The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

Cut-off low developing over Southern Cape??
Images:Eumetsat (Click on images for larger view.)
SAWDOS - SA Weather Satellite Image: 14h00 SAST. It would appear that there is a cut-off low developing over the Southern Cape although it is far to early to confirm the intensity. Weather observers please keep an eye on the current system for development. Heavy rain normally result from cut-off low's. Please report any heavy rain (50mm or more) to the SAWDOS. There is a possibility for flooding in areas stretching from Mossel Bay to East London.
