Five Workers Injured In Train Accident
[PIETERMARITZBURG – 21 FEBRUARY 2012 AT 19H00]
Five workers have sustained serious injuries after their bakkie collided with a train at a railway crossing in Sinating Township in Edendale this evening.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found what was left of a bakkie up against an embankment near to the railway line. Paramedics feared the worst after looking at the damaged vehicle and finding the five occupants just a few meters away. The patients were assessed and found that they had suspected neck and back injuries with minor cuts to their bodies. They were stabilised on scene and transported to Mediclinic Pietermaritzburg for further medical intervention.
All necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
