Twenty-three people were injured by an explosion in one of the back rooms near the kitchen of the Mugg & Bean restaurant at the Festival Mall in Kempton Park.
The injury count after a gas explosion in a restaurant at the Festival Mall in Kempton Park on Thursday rose to 23, paramedics said.
"Three workers are still in a serious condition while the others have been treated for minor injuries," Netcare spokesman, Chris Botha said.
The explosion took place in a back room near the kitchen of the Mugg and Bean restaurant," Ekurhuleni emergency services management spokesman William Ntladi said.
He said the area was cordoned off. An investigation into the cause of the blast was continuing.
