Traffic was affected on Tuesday afternoon following heavy rain and some flooding in Midrand and Centurion.
At least three streets were underwater and a wall apparently collapsed next to Olifantsfontein Road.
Johannesburg Emergency Services' Synock Matobako said officials were dispatched to the area.
“We are not sure how serious the situation is at the moment, but our crew will assess the area and give us feedback.”
Matebako warned motorists to drive carefully.
“People need to be very careful as it has been raining quite a lot.”
At the same, the Gautrain warned of possible delays in Centurion as a result of lightning.
