Valentine's Day golf cart snarl-up sees man (62) critically injured

A sixty two-year-old man is fighting for his life in a Bethlehem Hospital after a near drowning in a river in Senekal in the Free State late last night.

The cause of the incident and the series of events leading up to it remain unclear.
Common cause information indicates that the man had attended a Valentine’s Day function and after the revelry had been travelling in a golf cart. He allegedly lost control of the cart which veered from the path and went into a river.

Netcare911 Paramedics arrived at the scene to find that the man had been pulled from the water by a passerby, a doctor, who initiated care.

He was in a critical condition and medics immediately took over treatment. He was intubated and placed on a manual ventilator before he was transported by ambulance to the private medical facility in Bethlehem for further urgent care.
