The City of Cape Town on Saturday said it was normal for sharks to swim close to shore at this time of year.
The city is considering a proposal to begin the first steps of shark exclusion nets at Fish Hoek Beach but, the South Peninsula Sub Council needs to approve the proposal first.
Officials warned bathers to obey shark spotters.
The city’s Greg Oelofse said, “It’s quite normal for us to see the animals around this time of year. The shark spotters are on duty, so people should just adhere to their warnings,” he said.
