The SAWDOS has been inundated with weather observation reports of heavy rain in areas of Kwazulu Natal. Reports have been received of heavy rain in the following areas:
Pinetown, Isipingo, Stanger, Kloof, Amanzimtoti, New Germany, Durban, Umkomaas, Drummond, Red Hill, Balito, Westville, Queensburgh, Umhlanga, Phoenix, Gingindlovu, Pietermaritzburg and Trafalgar.
Heavy rain is still falling in areas while localized flooding were reported in Pinetown, Phoenix, Umgeni Road near Absa Stadium. Old Main Road, Isipingo and along Beach Road. (OR Tambo) Flights from and to King Shaka Airport has been diverted toe Bloemfontein. Reports indicate that 22 houses were washed away in Phoenix and that 500 people have been left destitute. If the heavy rain continues further flooding and damage can be expected in areas. Please do not try to cross low lying areas, rivers, ravines of low level bridges. If at all possible stay at home tonight.

These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.
