Rescue South Africa on Saturday said it was not taking chances ahead of cyclone Irina.
It set up a task force in KwaZulu-Natal ahead of the cyclone that is expected to cause flooding and torrential rain in Mozambique, KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo.
Earlier in 2012, six people died and hundreds were displaced in Mpumalanga and Limpopo during a similar storm.
Rescue South Africa's Ian Sher said, “We have 4x4s on standby, swift border rescue, rope rescue, and technicians. We’ll be able to assist if there are any water incidents,” he says.
