Found this interesting discussion on the AvCom Aviation Forum. Must say that a few pertinent aspects surfaced lately that makes for some interesting reading. I just wonder why their is so much criticism lately being flung towards the weather service. It would appear that the general public are not to happy with the current state of affairs. I really do not blame the public at all for being unhappy. This Blog contains several posts that illustrate several shortcomings to the SAWS website and service delivery. We should soon know if the SAWS is willing to better their website and service delivery. The SAWDOS will keep the public informed in this regard.

The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.
