A construction worker was critically injured when he fell five meters from a slippery ledge onto the factory floor below late last night.
The cause of the incident and the series of events preceding it remain uncertain and will form the subject of an internal investigation.
Common cause information indicates that the man had been working on a ledge when he lost his footing on a slippery surface. He then plunged five meters, landing on the concrete floor below.
Netcare911 Paramedics arrived at the scene after colleagues called 082 911. They immediately initiated care and an examination of the man revealed multi-system traumatic injuries.
He was stabilised at the site and then transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
