Jeffreys Bay crew up all night

At 21:36 on Good Friday (6 April), Station37 Jeffreys Bay was alerted to a missing 53 year old fisherman on the PE side of the Gamtoos River Mouth. He had gone fishing earlier in the day with a family member and the family member had returned home earlier.

The fisherman later notified his family via cell phone that he was struggling to find his way home and got lost in the dunes and bush.

We mobilised a search with the assistance of a SAP K9 dog unit and started to track him through the dunes and extremely dense bush in the area.

We were also assisted by a 24/7 paramedic.

Just before 1am on Saturday morning, he was found in the dense bush close to the Gamtoos River Mouth. It took another 40 minutes to get him out of the area and to the 24/7 ambulance. He was checked by the paramedic and was treated for minor cuts and exhaustion.

Just before 2am we stood down and recovered the vehicles and left the area.

After washing down and refueling, the crew got just a few hours sleep before they were up and busy with their fundraising car wash today at Caltex Wavelands.
