Johannesburg - A man was rescued after falling down a shaft in Berea and being trapped there about six hours, the City of Johannesburg said on Monday.
The 20-year-old was rescued from the shaft, on the corner of Klein and Kotze streets, at about 10:00. He had been trapped since around 04:00, spokesperson Neil Rooi said.
He was injured, but it was not immediately known how badly.
He was taken to Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic hospital.
No further details were immediately available.
