Unite Against Poaching praised a Gauteng father and son on Sunday for using their upcoming Mount Everest hike to highlight the war on rhino poaching.
The 12-year-old Dante Burdych and his dad, Rene, will head for the Mount Everest base camp next week under the banner of United Against Poaching.
The fund aims to raise over R5 million in its first year to help save rhinos.
United Against Poaching's Linda Joyce told Eyewitness News, “Dante and his father have become aware of the terrible attack on the rhinos.
“They would like to support Unite Against Poaching and create more awareness.”
Dante said he was determined to make a difference.
“I’ve been training for nearly two years now.
“I’d just like to tell the rhino poachers that all of the people are going to join together and we are going to stop what they are doing.”

Good on them, really wish i could help financially but can't at the moment. Hopefully some big companies and media outlets will raise even more money and awareness for these two guys and the Rhinos. Good Luck to them both.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest niece needed an inspirational story for school tomorrow and i told her about this and she is going to use this story. Thanks for posting it and Good Luck again you guys are an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteA worthy cause, these guys are doing a lot more than most and making a huge single handed impact. But the focus should be on the rhino poaching but cause of poaching, Rhino horn use. Asian countrie's massive demand for rhino horn is what is fuelling the rhino poaching. We can put billions of Rands into rhino poaching and the rhino will still die, we need to drastically reduce the Asian demand for our Rhino's horn to save them!! I wish them all the best on their expedition and a safe return home. Thank you for making a difference...
