The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

SAWDOS - Once again this afternoon's warnings by the SA Weather Service is confusing and misleading. The map indicate that the Eastern and Western Cape have red warnings and that action must be taken. The Eastern Cape warning reflect subject and detail information while the Western Cape warning indicate that action must be taken but no subject or detail of the warning appear in the description area. Now once again we have to ask the question whether a warning has been issued or not for the Western Cape? Your guess is as good as mine. Eish the SAWS cannot seem to get this sorted and they want to be the only "authoritative voice" to issue weather warnings. The way they handled weather warnings this weekend needs to be investigated on the highest level. A further concern is the fact that no warning was issued for snowfall this weekend. Why was this not deemed necessary?
