Sandton python found under rubble

NATIONAL NEWS - The missing 3.5 metre-long python was found under a pile of rubble in Sandton, Johannesburg, on Monday.

The snake, named Gabbana and another snake, Dolce, escaped from Angi Latimer's home in Tugela Crescent on Wednesday after they climbed up the burglar bars and pushed down on a door handle.

Dolce was found in the pool pump later that day.

"My gardener found Gabbana underneath a pile of rubble in the yard. He was dirty but unharmed and had two frogs keeping him company," Latimer said.

She said Gabbana was blind due to skin shedding covering his eyes.

"He is blinded by the skin shedding, but as soon as the shedding falls off he will be fine."

Latimer said she gave Gabbana a bath to see if he had any injuries.

"I am so relieved, Gabbana is safe in his humid room."

Latimer added that although the snake had gone a week without being fed, he did not eat the frogs.
