The Knysna Municipality has issued an urgent warning to all residents and visitors to stay out of the water off the coast due to a large number of sharks spotted in the water.
Municipal Manager Lauren Waring explained that a beached whale at Buffel's Bay is more than likely attracting the sharks.
She says the whale washed ashore late Wednesday afternoon.
Waring says they're working with SANParks, Cape Nature, Eden District Municipality, Environmental Affairs and private specialists to deal with the matter as quickly as possible.
