Johannesburg – Altesaam 210 renosters is al sedert die begin van die jaar gestroop, het die departement van omgewingsake Maandag gesê.
In die Kruger Nasionale Park is 127 renosters na bewering gestroop, het Albi Modise, woordvoerder, in ‘n verklaring gesê.
“Die regering beskou die stropery van hierdie nasionale skat in ‘n baie ernstige lig en hou aan hom ons geveg teen hierdie misdaad te prioritiseer deur gekoördineerde, gesamentlike pogings,” het hy gesê.
Nege-en-twintig renosters is in Limpopo gestroop, 22 in KwaZulu-Natal en 19 in Noordwes.
Altesaam 165 stropers is sedert die begin van die jaar in hegtenis geneem, waarvan 67 in die Kruger Nasionale Park.
Modise het ‘n beroep op die publiek gedoen om renosterstropery of enige inligting wat tot inhegtenisnemings kan lei, te rapporteer.

Johannesburg - A total of 210 rhino have been poached since the beginning of the year, the department of environmental affairs said on Monday.
In the Kruger National Park alone, 127 rhino were illegally killed, spokesperson Albi Modise said in a statement.
"Government views the poaching of this national treasure in a very serious light and continues to prioritise our fight against this crime through co-ordinated, joint efforts," he said.
Twenty-nine rhino were poached in Limpopo, 22 in KwaZulu-Natal and 19 in North West.
A total of 165 poachers were arrested in the same period, 67 of them in the Kruger National Park.
Modise appealed to the public to report rhino poaching or any information that could lead to arrests.
