A serious incident occurred earlier this morning when a child was allegedly left in a locked vehicle while parked at a parking lot in Pietermaritzburg.
According to witnesses, bystanders witnessed a seven year old boy in distress as he was locked in a vehicle and left without adult supervision. Bystander immediately informed the authorities and activated local law enforcement officials to the scene.
When ER24 paramedics arrives at the scene, police officers had broken a window of the vehicle to gain access to the child and extricated to him from the vehicle. Paramedics treated the seven year old at the scene for dehydration before transporting him to a nearby medical facility for further care.
The incident will be investigated by the appropriate authority.
