Cape Town - An injured baby dolphin beached at Surfers Corner in Muizenberg, Cape Town, on Saturday, the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) said.
"The dolphin is still alive but appears to be injured. It has lacerations on it," spokesperson Craig Lambinon said.
"The NSRI from Strandfontein and the NSRI from Simonstown are on the scene assisting to secure the dolphin which is still in the water by the rocks."
The institute was securing the area until the oceans and coasts branch of the department of environmental affairs, marine scientists and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) arrives to assist, said Lambinon.
The SPCA would bring veterinary surgeons to the scene to decide what steps to take.
