A Russian army plane caught fire as it skidded off the runway as it was landing at a military airport east of Prague on Wednesday, the Czech defence ministry said.
Rescuers said up to 19 people were injured, most of them seriously.
“The plane had problems during landing, probably with the landing gear,” ministry spokesman Jan Pejsek told AFP.
Chief-of-staff spokeswoman Jana Ruzickova told the CTK news agency the Antonov An-30 plane with 23 people on board - 14 Russians and nine Czechs - skidded off the runway during landing and caught fire.
“There are no casualties,” she added.
Pejsek said the plane was on a standard Open Skies mission above the Czech Republic. The accident happened as it was landing at a Czech military airport in Caslav about 80 kilometres east of Prague.
