The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many South Africans. To obtain critical weather information, the SAWDOS use voluntary weather observers. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe and informed by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the SAWDOS for publication on the Blog. The SAWDOS is a non-profit organization that renders a FREE COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE.

Structural Fire On Berea Road
[DURBAN, KZN – 28 MAY 2012 AT 12H00]
Black billowing smoke could visible all around the Glenwood area this afternoon after a structural fire at a local petrol station off Berea Road.
Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the car wash part of the garage well a light and people running from the store connecting the garage. Berea Road was blocked to traffic to make the area safe until the Fire Department arrived on the scene. Within minutes the Fire Department were on scene and were able to extinguish the flames.
No injuries were reported on the scene. It is unclear what started the fire but the local authorities were on the scene and would investigate the cause of the fire.
