Two men were killed by a goods train in Heidelberg, southeast of Johannesburg, yesterday afternoon.
An inquest docket has been opened by the police.
Gauteng police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said the men, aged 45 and 47, died at the scene, but cannot be named as their families had not yet been notified of their deaths.
“It is suspected that the men were sitting on the railway when the train hit and killed them,’’ he said.
