EDEN DISTRICT NEWS FLASH - The Eden District has learned through difficult experience that pro-active steps need to be taken to mitigate the effects of disasters within the area.
The district had been hit hard by devastating localised floods caused by cut-off low pressure weather phenomenon during 2003, 2006 and 2011.
Although the Eden District had established a joint operational platform during each of these natural disasters it became clear that more needed to be done within the first 12 to 24 hours, especially with regard to the provision of the most basic needs to those worst affected by the disaster.
On Friday June 15, officials from various municipalities within the Eden District gathered to discuss a Winter Readiness Plan.
