Recent Natural Disasters

Floods and landslides in Philippines
-Flash floods and landslides reported over the western parts of Northern Luzon.
-According to The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), a potential cyclone – a low-pressure area (Dindo) may bring rain showers and thunderstorms to Eastern Visayas and Mindanao.
-As of 2 a.m local time, the LPA was located 480 km east of Eastern Visayas.
-Tropical storm Talim (Carina) is expected to affect the seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon.

Colombia/Nevado Del Ruiz Volcano
-Matecana Airport in the city of Pereira closed due to volcani ash clouds from Nevado Del Ruiz. The nearby Nubia airport in Manizales has been closed since the beginning of June due to similar volcanic activity.
-The 17,800-foot Ruiz volcano which is located west of Bogota hasn't erupted since the 1980s.

Flooding in Duluth, USA
-A state of flood emergency declared in Duluth.
-The Red Cross has set up a shelter at First United Methodist Church in Duluth.-Internet and cell-phone service is out in Two Harbors and elsewhere in Lake County.
-Several inbound flight cancelled by Duluth International Airport due to severe weather.
-Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton will visit Duluth on Thursday to assess the flood damage.

Flooding in Patna, India
-India Meteorological Department (IMD), Patna issued floods forecast for river catchments.
-Flooding is expected nearby Kosi, Kamala, Gandak, Bagmati and Punpun.


Tropical Storm Chris
-As of 03:00 UTC, TS Chris was located 1025 km se of Cape Race Newfoundland.

Tropical Depression Talim
-As of 03:00 UTC, Tropical depression (td) 06w (Talim) was located approximately 100 nm northeast of Taipei, Taiwan.
