Toddlers killed in house fire

Johannesburg - Two toddlers were killed in a house fire in Pretoria on Tuesday morning, paramedics said.

Paramedics were called out to Darter Street, in Montana Park in Pretoria north, where they found a house completely engulfed in flames, said Netcare spokesperson Jeff Wicks.

"Two young children, aged 2 and 3, were reported missing," he said.

"When the fire department had extinguished the fire, they conducted a thorough search and found their charred remains."

The children had been burnt beyond recognition.

The cause of the fire would be investigated by police, he said.
The fire had started at about 06:30.
