CAPE TOWN - Disaster Risk Management Services in Cape Town on Sunday said many roads had been closed due to heavy rains.
Disaster management spokesperson for the City of Cape Town Wilfred Solomons–Johannes said officials were concerned about flooding in certain areas.
He said so far, 29 sites were reported to be affected. Areas experiencing flooding include Rondebosch, Bonteheuwel and Crawford.
Solomons–Johannes said traffic officers were deployed to affected intersections across Cape Town.
He also appealed to motorists to go through flood waters with care and give other motorists right of way when necessary.
Meanwhile, some 60 people were evacuated from the Observatory Golf Club near the Liesbeeck River in Cape Town, due to flooding.
Solomons-Johannes said the river's water level was rising quickly because of persistent rains.
No injuries were reported by 4 p.m.
15 vehicles had to be removed from the flooded area, disaster management officials said.
